[ WHAT PEOPLE ASK US ]
What exactly does Centre for Social Design do?
We help governments, NGOs, and institutions design better services, spaces, and systems with the people they serve—not just for them. Think of us as problem-solvers who listen deeply and build smart, inclusive solutions that actually work in real life.
Is C4SD a Design agency or a Research Team?
We’re both, and more. We do research, co-design, systems thinking, and build actual products or services when needed. Our focus isn’t just making things look good—it’s making them work better for everyone involved.
We already have Engineers, Architects & Consultants. How is C4SD different?
That’s great. You have people who can build. We help you make sure what you’re building actually fits people’s lives. Think of us like translators between institutions and everyday people. We help you see what isn’t in the reports, like why women avoid a clinic, why students don’t use a new school library, or why a market design isn’t working. Then we help you fix it with the people it affects.
What kind of projects does C4SD do?
Project ranges from collaborating with copper artisans in Kashmir to preserve their heritage while improving their livelihoods, developing healthier snacks for underprivileged children in the Mid-Day Meal Scheme, creating a zero-waste exhibition system for WDCD, and building digital literacy modules for women in rural Karnataka.
